Granada is situated on the mountains of Sierra Nevada. One of the main attractions of this city in Spain is the Alhambra - a fine stronghold and the royal residence of the Arab kings since the thirteenth century until they were forced to leave Spain by the Catholic monarchs. You can find magnificent palaces; ornate courtyards and lavish houses having been erected over numerous centuries. Yet another splendid place in the city is the Casa de Porras. This elaborate mansion was created in the sixteenth century and is currently a cultural center that features art displays. The Church of Nuestra Senora de las Angustias is one of the celebrated churches in this city. It dates back to the seventeenth century. The two bell towers of this church were covered by glazed tiles. Inside you will find a lovely, decorated altarpiece and an excellent collection of art such as sculptures and paintings. The Royal Chapel is also a Granada attraction. It was built as a mausoleum for the all the Catholic monarchs in the sixteenth century. There is a museum there that is home to the crown of Queen Isabel, the sword of King Fernando and the collection of paintings of Queen Isabel.
